Explore traditional Shetland lace knitting with expert teacher Brooke Nico, who demonstrates how just three simple motifs – Feather and Fan and Old Shale; Acre and Razor; and Horseshoe and Leaf – can yield a variety of lovely items, from fashion, to accessories, to home décor. Step-by-step photos and easy-to-follow instructions help even beginners grasp each stitch, and the projects grow progressively more difficult as knitters become more comfortable with the techniques.
Before you even get to the stunning designs in this beautiful book, it is a good read.
The history behind Shetland Lace, Shetland and the traditions make this book interesting and quite unique.
With just six stitches, 20 designs can be knitted. For fans of the craft this project book is just divine.
Shawls, Wristers and Stoles, are just a few.
There is a brilliant ‘How to’ demonstration, and the stitches are simply explained. I loved how each named project is given a wonderful description. The first project called Ayre..means a pebbled beach..it really is exquisite.
Beautifully photographed, the designs come with full instructions and a pattern guide. My favourite is the Brae Yoke Pullover, it is perfect for Cool Spring days. All the designs are stylish and depending on your choice of yarn, will be given a unique and personal look.
This would make a wonderful gift, it is as much a coffee table book as it is a pattern book.
