Little Secrets Megan Hart

With a baby on the way and a brand new house, it seems Ginny and her husband, Sean, are on their way to a fresh start. But strange occurrences and financial strain seem determined to keep Ginny and Sean stuck in the past. Ginny begins to believe the house may be haunted…or that her husband might be trying to trick her into thinking so. As Ginny researches the house’s former owner and the tragedy that happened there, it becomes clearer than ever that something is in the house with them. The question is, who…or what…is it?

The thought of a spooky read excited me, but the first half of this read slightly bored me.

Ginny and Sean have bought a fabulous old house complete with the previous dead owners possessions, which for me would be a dream. However for Ginny, pregnant after a miscarriage, and now unemployed and unable to really do anything physical herself finds herself spooked by noises, smells and strange sightings. The marriage itself has problems, Ginny seems frustrated and Sean doesn’t seem to notice.

I got a bit fed up with the findings of mice droppings and the lights going out, along with the hot and cold places I felt these descriptions a tad too repetitive. However I do love a haunting and regardless of these gripes I was intrigued.

A character based novel, the second half was better and ‘finding’ Caroline is all Ginny can think of. As a ‘nosy’ woman finding the diary would have been too much for me not to read it straight away, but Ginny holds back.  The tension does build somewhat but all in all this book was too slowly paced for me.

I loved the dedication in this book…I wonder if Megan means it???
